Volunteering
Volunteering is an exciting new feature that is spearheaded by the Mountain Trust Organisation and written each issue by the Chairman: Mr Charles Malcolm-Brown MA.
A registered charity, they have been sponsoring school and university students, building schools, community projects, assisting orphans and providing health care to the hardest hit in Nepal since 2001. They also organise internships, volunteers and advise other NGOs planning to work in Nepal.
The Mountain Trust is currently working on the Radio Guru Project – to bring the best quality teaching to the whole country via FM radio – and have converted a Land Rover into an Ambulance to serve remote communities.

The Mountain Trust are members of the Cambridge University Humanitarian Centre and have the support of Michael Palin, Lord Wilson of Dinton and Professor Hugh Montgomery of University College, London, amongst others.
If a gap year experience volunteering in the Himalayas is what you are looking for, then look no further. Each issue The Mountain Trust will give you an invaluable insight on how to make this a reality. With write ups from volunteers who have been there – sharing their experiences.
“Students seeking field work experience that has a real and lasting impact in Nepalese society should look no further than The Mountain Trust.” Karen Smith: Placement & Career Centre, Brunel University.
“The study of those who dwell in the thin mountain air can tell us much about how humans survive illness in the lowlands. The support of The Mountain Trust is allowing us to do just this – helping us understand the causes of complications in pregnancy – and how they might be avoided.” Professor Hugh Montgomery: University College, London.

“I’m very proud to be a Supporter of the Mountain Trust.” Lord Wilson of Dinton (former Cabinet Secretary & Master of Emmanuel College, Cambridge).
